Our Story
Most EV charging adapters are designed by people who've never had to trust a piece of equipment with their life.
Ours wasn't.
Symon, Velectr's founder, spent 14 years at Google leading business development — scaling partnerships and navigating complex markets. But the work that sharpened his standards wasn't in a conference room. It was on a fire scene. As a firefighter and Lieutenant, he learned one thing that no corporate job teaches: when equipment fails, people get hurt. No returns. No refunds. No second chances.
When Symon bought his EV and went looking for an adapter to access Tesla's Supercharger network, what he found alarmed him. The market was flooded with cheap, uncertified hardware — no independent testing, no transparency, no accountability. Products designed to a price point, not a safety standard. And people were plugging them into $60,000 vehicles.
He built Velectr to fix that.
What “Built to a Higher Standard” Actually Means
Velectr's NACS-to-J1772 adapter is CSA certified to the UL2252 standard — real third-party certification that most competitors skip because it costs time and money. Our CCS1 Supercharger adapter is built to the same standard, with UL2252 certification in process.
Every product is tested before it ships, and every product carries a warranty we stand behind. You can contact us and reach a real person. That matters when you're asking a piece of hardware to sit between your home wiring and your vehicle every night.
Why It's Personal
Symon built Velectr as a father who drives an EV and wants his daughter to grow up in a world where clean transportation is reliable. As a 1% for the Planet member, every sale contributes to environmental nonprofits doing real work.
But the mission starts with the product. If it isn't safe, nothing else matters.
That's the standard we hold ourselves to — the same one we'd apply to gear we'd carry into a burning building.
